5 Starter Guide in Food Safety & Quality

01: Cook to the right temperature.

Different types of food has certain minimum internal temperature that needs to be cooked in order to destroy any harmful bacteria.

The only way to ensure that is by using a food thermometer.

02: Check pH level.

pH level can affect texture, flavour and aroma of your food products. It cal also be a crucial indicator of food safety relating to microorganism growth.

Using a digital pH meter can provide clearer readings of the pH level in your food or beverages compared to a litmus paper.

03: Promptly refrigerate food.

Either it is cooked or raw food, it is crucial to refrigerate food within 2 hours of cooking or purchasing.

It is recommended to maintain your chiller temperature between 0˚C to 4˚C while below -12˚C for your freezer.

You can monitor this by using a thermometer, or better and more convenient, using a temperature data logger.

04: Replace degraded cooking oil.

Using degraded oil not only produces bad quality fried products, but it could also pose health risks to consumers.

Using a cooking oil tester will tell you the right time to change your oil. It helps you to ensure quality of your food while saving costs at the same time.

05: Monitor sugar and salt level.

By determining the exact Brix and/or salt level in your food, you can ensure the best quality of your food production, as well as saving costs.

There are a wide range of Brix and/or salt measuring instruments available, but portable refractometers and salt meters can give you a fast reading with convenient operation.
